1.2 Connect in Minutes via the Genesis Prefs

1.21 Introduction

This is a no-nonsense, non-pictorial guide to get you connected to your provider, using a modem (for connection with a network card or other SANA-II driver, refer to the extensive Genesis documentation) within the quickest possible time.

Now load the Genesis Prefs..

1.22 Modem/TA

Firstly you need to create a new modem. Select a modem in the modem options, or choose generic if your modem is not listed.

1.23 Interfaces

Goto the Interfaces section. Press 'new' and a new ISP window will appear.

Goto the 'Modem' section. Firstly select the modem you created before. Next enter your login name and password as agreed with your Internet Service Provider when you first signed up to their service. Within the loginscript part and enter "dial" and "goonline". Now enter the phone number to dial your provider.

In the 'Resolv' section, make sure 'Query Domainname' and 'Query Hostname' are ticked on.

1.24 User

Add a user in the user section and enter their username and name.

1.25 Finish

The information entered should be enough information to enable you to connect to your provider, however we only entered the bare bones needed to make a connection.

We would suggest a thorough read of the Genesis documentation in order to "tweak" the settings for your provider.
